The NEWTCracker Team have been monitoring the situation surrounding COVID-19 very closely.
Following discussions with Welsh Triathlon and now this afternoon’s Government update, we believe the right course of action is to postpone the event.
This decision has been made in the interest of keeping all our participants, volunteers and their families safe. The Government have advised against unnecessary travel, social contact and gatherings large or small. We do not want to host an open road triathlon and risk sending competitors for medical treatment, putting further strain on the NHS at a time when people need access to lifesaving services.
We apologies for the disappointment and inconvenience caused to all athletes. We at NEWT love nothing more than hosting this early season event and we couldn’t have predicted this unprecedented situation.
